All About Circ Pumps

Thursday, February 7th, 2019

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

What is a Circ Pump or Circulation Pump? Do I need a Circ Pump? Why? What makes a Circ Pump essential for a quality hot tub?

In the blog below, we hope we can answer all of your questions about Circ Pumps.

What is a Circ Pump?

A Circ Pump is a low-flow pump that comes standard on most hot tubs carried by The Spa and Sauna Co. A Circ Pump keeps the water in a hot tub circulating at all times. This is done so the water inside the hot tub is being filtered, heated, and treated with sanitizer 24/7.

Do I need a Circ Pump? Why?

A Circ Pump is used to enhance your hot tub experience.

Since hot tub water is only changed about every 4 months, Circ Pumps are used to keep water fresher and cleaner for a long period of time.

The Circ Pump ensures that your water is moving and clean.

While you can still purchase a hot tub without a Circ Pump, our hot tub experts at The Spa and Sauna Company recommend that you purchase a hot tub with some sort of filtration system.

Hot Tubs without a Circ Pump often use a two-speed pump. The pump is on low-speed when circulating the water and on high-speed when running the jets.

Just like switching a light on and off often burns out an incandescent light bulb faster than leaving it on all day does, constantly changing the pump speed of a two-speed pump wears out the motor in the hot tub faster than using constant filtration provided by a Circ Pump.

If replacement and maintenance costs are a concern to you, you may be better off making a slightly larger up-front investment, in exchange for less repairs and replacement costs down the line, as well as a superior hot tub experience.

What makes a Circ Pump essential for a quality hot tub?

Would you like your water to be refreshed, filtered and heated, while you are in your hot tub? Without a Circ Pump, you need to alternate between those functions.

It comes down to what is more important to you. A hot tub with a Circ Pump has an easier time maintaining the temperature you’ve selected. That’s because while you are in the hot tub, the water circulates past the heater, and fresh, sanitized, heated waster comes out of the jets, while you use your tub.

With a two-pump system, you have to decide between heated water or moving jets.

Most people have a more enjoyable spa experience, when they can have both at the same time.

Here, at The Spa and Sauna Company, it is our goal to provide you with the most enjoyable hot tub experience, at a budget that suits your needs.

Circ Pump Hot Tub models we carry start at $6,999 and go up from there. They are typically available in the Caldera Paradise and Utopia Series; the Hot Spring Limelight, Highlife and Highlife NXT series; and the Sundance 780, 880 and 980 Series, depending on which showroom you visit.

How Do I Find A Hot Tub Electrician?

Thursday, January 24th, 2019

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

Here at The Spa and Sauna Company, we specialize in selling and maintaining hot tubs.

We will deliver your hot tub, but we do not hook up your hot tub to an electrical source.

As a courtesy, we will help you find an electrician, or a crane operator, or a concrete contractor, if you need one.

Electrician

After being in business for nearly 30 years, we have delivered our share of hot tubs.

Most customers only require an electrician. Some customers need a concrete pad poured still. The occasional hot tub delivery, and most swim spa deliveries, require a crane.

Regardless of what you need, we are here to help. We want your hot tub or swim spa delivery to be as relaxing as possible.

For that reason, we have compiled a referral list of electricians, concrete contractors, and crane operators that we have worked with previously. Those that we feel are the best are on our referral list.

Should you need help finding an electrician, crane operator, or concrete contractor for your hot tub or swim spa installation, we will gladly share our list of vendors with you.

All you need to do is call our Customer Engagement Representative, Delivery Supervisor, or your Salesperson, and ask for the list.

Here are a few helpful hints. Have your electrical box installed prior to the delivery. Your electrician doesn’t need to be present for the delivery. Ask them to come back after the hot tub or swim spa has been filled to do the final connection.

We hope this has helped make getting your new hot tub a bit easier.

What is the Perfect Hot Tub?

Thursday, January 17th, 2019

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

What is the perfect hot tub? Well, the answer is different for everyone and depends on quite a few factors. In fact, the BETTER question is, what is the perfect hot tub for YOU?

We have a short quiz, developed by our team of Hot Tub Experts, that can help our team of professionals get you in YOUR Perfect Hot Tub!

Height

How tall is the tallest person in your family?

Hot Tubs come in a variety of heights. Some are more comfortable for very tall people, while others are more comfortable for people under 6 feet tall.

While the best way to tell what is most comfortable for you is to actually get in a hot tub you are considering, the height of your tallest family members will help us pinpoint some hot tub models to start with.

Health Concerns

Does anyone who will be using the hot tub have Insomnia, Back Pain, Arthritis, or Sports Injuries?

Certain hot tubs have specialized jets designed specifically for certain areas of the body. Knowing what your biggest health concern is will help us determine if you would like hot tub circuit therapy or other special hot tub features related to jet placement and strength.

Number of People Who Will Use The Hot Tub

Is the hot tub just for you? For you and your partner? For you and a large family or all of your friends?

This question is so obvious, but it’s crucial to narrowing down your choices to what will fit your needs best.

Our hot tubs can accommodate 1 to 8 people. The choice of how many people you want in there is completely up to you!

Budget

This also helps us narrow down your choices significantly and direct you to a hot tub in your desired price range. New hot tubs are available starting at about $2,999.

Here are your choices:

Most Affordable or Used ($2,999 – $4,999)

Value on a Budget ($5,000 – $9.999)

Most Popular ($9,000 – $12,499)

With Bells & Whistles ($12,500 +)

Special Features

Finally, are you looking for any special features? Most hot tubs come with some lighting options, some have music available, and others have Salt Water Systems. Do any of those interest you?

Custom Vs. PreFab Saunas

Thursday, January 3rd, 2019

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

Saunas can be a complicated purchasing decision. You might have a lot of questions.  Here, at The Spa and Sauna Company, we do our best to educate our customers and make that decision a bit easier.

So, after you’ve decided you want a sauna, it’s time to decide if you are looking for a pre-built or custom sauna AND if you want a Traditional or Infrared sauna, or an InfraSauna, which is a combination of the two.

Keep in mind, there is no right or wrong type of sauna. It’s truly a matter of personal preference.

Traditional Vs. Infrared (Far-Infrared) Saunas

We find most often, here at The Spa and Sauna Company, that men tend to prefer a Traditional Sauna experience, which is more ritualistic experience that includes pouring water over hot stones to create steam and enhance humidity. In our experience, women tend to prefer an Infrared Sauna, which heat up quicker, using radiant heat, and don’t require any pouring of water.

Interestingly, couples tend to purchase InfraSaunas, which allow people to have either traditional or infrared sauna experience, depending on their needs at the time.

However, what we have found, at The Spa and Sauna Company, is that people tend to be happier with the purchase of a Traditional Sauna because they get hotter than Infrared Saunas do.

Click Here to learn more about if you want a traditional or infrared sauna.

Pre-Built Saunas

Now, the decisions relating to custom vs. pre-built and traditional vs. infrared often come together at the same time.

Let’s explain the differences between Custom and Pre-Built Saunas.

Pre-Built or Pre-Fabricated Saunas are just that. They are free standing saunas that come ready made for you and ready to go into your home. While you can still incorporate these units to look like they are “built-in,” you should be aware that they are made in advance, to suit most people’s needs. They are not customized.

One benefit of a pre-built sauna is that they can be disassembled and moved if necessary.

Pre-Built Saunas can be Traditional, Infrared or Infra Saunas.

When considering a pre-built Infrared Sauna, we encourage you to keep in mind that Low EMF/EMR saunas are available in the B and S Series of Finnleo Pre-Fabricated saunas. Their EMF/EMR ratings are among the lowest in the Sauna Industry. S Series Saunas from Finnleo have the most features.

Both Series of Finnleo Saunas are available from The Spa and Sauna Company.

Custom Saunas

A Custom Cut Sauna can be built exactly to the specifications of your house and transform any location in your home into a sauna. You could even put it in an old, unused closet. As the name indicates, custom is specifically made for you and is typically a larger investment because of that. Detailed blueprints and close work with a Sauna Expert at The Spa and Sauna Company is required.

Custom Saunas can be Traditional, Infrared or Infra Saunas.

Regardless of the type of Sauna you choose, all saunas offer health and wellness benefits including:

Stress relief; Relaxed muscles; Soothed aches and pains; Flushed toxins; Improved cardiovascular performance; Illness prevention; Time for self-reflection; and A place for recreational and social benefits

We hope this information has made your search for a sauna a bit easier!

Why Endless Pools are the Best Swim Spas

Thursday, December 20th, 2018

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

Here at The Spa and Sauna Company we know that Endless Pools are the best Swim Spas available on the market today. Let’s explore some of the reasons why.

Manufacturer

Endless Pools is owned by the same corporation that produces most of the hot tub brands we carry at The Spa and Sauna Company. They offer superior customer support, access to replacement parts, and warranty services. We have worked with this company for a long time and they have earned their place as an industry-leader, after more than 40 years in the hot tub business.

We have sold and serviced other swim spas in the past, but we have found that their customer service was severely lacking, making for a less enjoyable long-term customer experience. While their product may be less expensive than some series of Endless Pools, or even similarly priced to the value-line R Series of Endless Pools, we have found that other brand’s quality just doesn’t stand the test of time, like Endless Pools’ swim spas do.

Product Innovation

There are also fewer unique offerings available from other brands of swim spas. A swim spa from another manufacturer typically only offers a basic above ground backyard swim leisure experience, while Endless Pools has 3 unique series. One is designed for athletes, another for those looking for a combination of exercise and recreation, and a third for those looking for backyard relaxation.

The E-Series and X-Series have no equal in terms of their proprietary Swim Machine Technology and Options Underwater Treadmill. Let’s explore those below.

The Endless Pools E-Series (Fitness Systems)

The Endless Pools Fitness Systems or E-Series provides the opportunity for low-impact exercise, with features such as an optional underwater treadmill, rowing bar, and strength training equipment. It is ideal for an athlete, who wants to train at home. The E-Series offers a swim-in-place experience, that feels like swimming in open water, due to its custom-made hydraulically powered propulsion system. In addition, you will also have three comfortable jetted seats for relaxation and hydrotherapy. The E-Series is available in three different lengths, including 15 feet, 17 feet and 20 feet long. As the highest-end option, with the most elective features, and add-ons, the E-Series starts in the mid-$30,000 range and goes up from there.

The Endless Pools X-Series (SwimCross Exercise Systems)

The Endless Pools SwimCross Exercise System features five air-free swim jets and exercise opportunities, with rowing and resistance exercise. This series is best for those who are looking to exercise, as well as relax. The X-Series is designed to make it easier for swimmers to stay centered and afloat, due to the jet configuration. The top jets provide resistance, while the bottom jets provide lift. The X-Series also offers comfortable jetted seats with hydrotherapy benefits. The X-Series comes in sizes including 12, 15 and 20 feet long. Pricing starts in the in the mid-$20,000 range.

The Endless Pools R-Series (RecSport)

The RecSport Recreational System by Endless Pools offers a high-quality swim spa at an affordable price. This series is best for those looking for leisure or even a really big hot tub. This value-line swim spas features three airless swim jets, seating for the family, hydromassage jets, and ample room for recreation. The RecSport is 12 feet long. It starts under $20,000, including delivery.

Construction

The E-Series and X-Series of Endless Pools come with proprietary Steel-Frame Construction, to support the height, weight and water volume inside those Endless Pools. The cabinet’s design is sleek and stylish, because form is just as important as function.

While steel-frame construction makes sense for those two swim spa series, we feel Wood-Frame Construction for the R-Series and hot tubs is more economical and doesn’t reduce the lifespan of those products. Steel Frames on Hot Tubs would be cost prohibitive, without enhancing the product. Our hot tubs last decades and offer the best price and value.

Conclusion

Other swim spa brands may even use the term “EP” in their product description, to give the appearance that they are associated with Endless Pools. Don’t be fooled! There is only one Endless Pools and all of their products will be clearly marked.

The Spa and Sauna Company deals exclusively with Endless Pools for Swim Spas because we feel they match our dedication to the highest quality products and best customer experience, at any budget.

Spa Buying Myths

Thursday, December 13th, 2018

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

Buying a hot tub is a big decision and today it’s easier to be more informed than ever. Don’t fall for common spa myths perpetrated by other hot tub dealers.

Here are some of the most common spa buying myths we’ve heard from customers who have visited other spa dealers.

Myth #1: All Spas are the same.

We, at The Spa and Sauna Company, know all spas are NOT the same. That’s why we carry several high-quality brands at different showrooms, simply because different people have different needs that can be met by different brands. While our entry level spas are a great value for the price, they aren’t the same as our premium models.

Myth # 2: We’ll beat any price.

Some dealers of other hot tub brands will offer a direct competing quote, but spas vary in quality. Dealerships vary in customer experience, too.

At The Spa and Sauna Company, our team includes trained sales professionals, delivery teams, and factory-certified service technicians to help you enjoy every phase of your spa ownership experience.

For that reason, it is impossible to go in for a quote from The Spa and Sauna Company on a specific hot tub and then get a comparable quote on the exact same spa from another dealer down the road. There just isn’t another dealer that can offer the same product, with the same team with the same level of experience.

We also recommend that you take the location of your spa dealer into consideration when you make a purchasing decision. In order to obtain the best service, you might want to select a dealer that is closest to you, while also making sure they provide top-notch customer service.

Myth #3: Spas don’t require any chemicals or maintenance.

We have discussed this before, but it deserves repeating. Hot Tubs need to be sanitized with proper water care. At The Spa and Sauna Company, we have a variety of water care options available to fit your needs. Click Here to learn about the variety of easy water care options available from The Spa and Sauna Company.

It is important to remember that all hot tubs require some type of water care and maintenance. It is simply not safe to get in a hot tub that has not been sanitized.

Myth #4: A new spa manufacturer/dealer makes and sells the best spas.

We say this myth raises the Red Flag Alert! All of the hot tub brands we carry have a long history, of  several decades! If you go to a spa dealership that is offering a brand-new spa line, it’s quite possible that the issues with these spas haven’t been discovered yet and the service that may be needed in the future won’t be available. Dealers and spa manufacturers with a short history tend not to stick around for the long haul.

Here, at The Spa and Sauna Company, we’ve been in business since 1990. We have service technicians with more than a decade of experience working on quality hot tubs, such as Caldera, Hot Spring, Sundance and Freeflow Spas. They know these hot tubs well and are available to service your hot tub when needed. We know what can break and what parts to have in stock when you need them. We are always available to help. Should you need service, Click Here.

Myth #5: Hot Tubs are too expensive.

False!

Here at The Spa and Sauna Company, we sell new and used hot tubs, with a wide price range. Used Hot Tubs are available starting at $1,999. New Hot Tubs start at $2,999. We have dozens of hot tubs to choose from, priced anywhere between $1,999 and $19,999.

Special financing is also available, allowing for low monthly payments, upon approved credit.

We carry such a variety of hot tub brands and price points because we believe (1) Everybody needs a hot tub, and (2) Everybody can have a hot tub. We believe that so fully, it’s our company’s mission statement.

Do You Include Delivery?

Thursday, November 29th, 2018

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

The Spa and Sauna Company includes local delivery with the sale of our hot tubs. These deliveries are provided by a team of trained hot tub delivery experts, who are all team members at The Spa and Sauna Company.

“We want to control the whole experience from beginning to end,” said Spa and Sauna Company Operations Manager Joe Lake. “That way we know they’re happy with their sale, as well as delivery.”

Hot Tub Delivery

Some other area spa dealers include spa delivery in the sale price, but others don’t. Some provide local delivery only in the Reno/Sparks area. Others have a base charge of about $200, that increases based on the difficulty of the delivery.

So how much is a hot tub delivery worth? The Spa and Sauna Company values local delivery at several hundred dollars. That’s a great value to be included when you purchase a hot tub from The Spa and Sauna Company. Our trained professionals will bring the hot tub directly into your backyard and place it precisely where you want it.

The only exception is when a crane or other machinery is needed. And in that case, we can provide referrals to crane vendors we have worked with in the past. If you need a crane, you would pay the vendor directly, just like your electrician. While crane delivery is rare in the Reno/Sparks/Tahoe area, it is sometimes necessary when the spa will be on a hillside or a second or third story deck.

Pool Table and Shuffleboard Delivery

While we do use subcontractors to deliver and assemble the pool tables and shuffleboards we sell, the subcontractors we work with have over 15 years of experience and have worked with The Spa and Sauna Company for years.

How much is a pool table or shuffleboard delivery worth? Again, we value it at several hundred dollars.

Our Delivery and Service Team

A hot tub is a long-term investment and over the course of its life, you may need service or routine maintenance. Our Service Team includes factory-certified technicians, some with over a decade of experience.

See some of our Delivery and Service experts below.
